Deadly motor vehicle accidents prior to Kentucky Derby

The Bluegrass State has a reputation as a fun-loving, down to earth place to live, work and visit. From its sprawling landscapes, die hard sports fans, unique music scene and historical significance, Kentucky has something for everyone to enjoy. While many headlines in the state are positive, residents are all too aware that they are not entirely safe from serious motor vehicle accidents

One of the biggest annual events in the nation is the Kentucky Derby, which takes place in early May of each year. A major attraction for residents and tourists alike, the Derby draws enormous crowds. One side effect of this is increased traffic, especially in locations close to Churchill Downs, which is the home of what is possibly the most famous horse race in the world.

This past week, chain reaction motor vehicle accidents left a pedestrian dead. A cataclysmic crash involving a total of five vehicles, including several buses and a limousine ended in  tragedy when one of the buses involved careened onto the sidewalk, striking and killing an elderly man who had just patronized an ATM in front of a local business. It is currently under investigation whether the driver of the bus lost control due to being struck in the collision, or was attempting to swerve the large bus to avoid further damage.

When motor vehicle accidents end in loss of life, families and loved ones can be completely overwhelmed by the devastating circumstances. In addition to the emotional toll, funeral expenses, medical bills and legal cases can come pouring in. In dire situations such as these, many families chose to allow an experienced attorney to assist them. An attorney can help take care of the paperwork, and ensure that victims and their loved ones can take time to grieve while they pursue justice and compensation for their loss.
