Summer travelers beware: motor vehicle accidents a possibility
On behalf of Wilt & Thompson, PLLC posted in motor vehicle accidents on Monday, June 10, 2019.
This time of year, many hard-working Kentucky residents look forward to planning summer travel. The school year is coming to an end, and it can be nice for families to take a break and get out of the house, even if it is just a trip to a local pool or park. Drivers should be aware that, even on a fun day, a driver must use caution and try to avoid motor vehicle accidents.
Recently, a pickup truck that was part of the fleet of a local fire department was on the way back from providing assistance at an emergency. The driver of the vehicle, for reasons still unknown, crossed the center line. He hit an oncoming vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle that was struck was killed as a result of the crash. The accident is still under investigation, but investigators have discovered that the driver at fault was returning from rendering aid at another car accident. The identity of the victim has not yet been revealed in order to allow authorities time to notify the victim’s family.
When victims are killed in Kentucky motor vehicle accidents, surviving family members may not know how to handle the days and weeks that immediately follow. Funeral expenses, medical bills and other costs may pile up while a family tries to come to terms with a loss. Contacting a compassionate attorney might be a good idea in these situations. An attorney can work with the executor of a victim’s estate to utilize the legal process to collect any monetary damages the estate may be able to collect on behalf of a victim.
